Hi, I’m Annie Albers.

I’m a certified speech language pathologist (SLP) and the founder of Foundations First Therapy. My approach starts with developing the “foundational” skills for communication, and then building from there so your child can confidently communicate with the world.

I’m certified with the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) and have spent the past 5 years providing evaluation and treatment services to medically complex kiddos at a children’s hospital. I earned my bachelor’s degree at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and my master’s degree at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities.

My Approach to Early Intervention

Each child has their own unique strengths and interests. This is why following their lead is such a powerful tool in developing communication.

Observe

First we begin by observing how your child interacts with the world. What are they interested in? What skills (e.g., sounds, gestures, movements, play actions, etc.) are they already using?

Build it

Then we begin to build off those interests and skills. We use strategies like imitation, modeling, expansion, and others to develop new skills and grow their communication. Let’s get started!
