Speech & Language Therapy

Speech & language therapy happens in your child’s natural environment, such as in your home, outside, or, if allowed, at your child’s daycare or preschool. We also offer teletherapy.

Every child is different. Your child may be having a difficult time communicating and you’re unsure why. They may have developmental delays or be considered a “late talker.” They may have a medical diagnosis, such as cerebral palsy, cleft lip and/or palate, Down syndrome, or autism. We’re here to support all kids and caregivers!

We treat a variety of speech and language diagnoses, such as:

  • Expressive (‘use’) and Receptive (‘understanding’) Language

  • Articulation

  • Phonology (sound patterns)

  • Apraxia (motor coordination)

  • Dysarthria (motor weakness)

  • Fluency/Stuttering

  • Pragmatic (‘social’) Language

  • Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

  • Cognitive-Communication (e.g., memory, planning, organization, problem solving)

  • Aural Rehabilitation (e.g., increasing awareness of sounds in individuals with hearing loss)

Let’s Get Started!

Step 1: Schedule a phone consultation

We start with a free phone consultation to discuss your child and our services. We spend this time answering any questions that you may have and determine if Foundations First Therapy is a good fit for your family!

Step 2: Evaluation

A 90-minute comprehensive speech-language evaluation is used to assess your child’s overall communication skills. It will determine eligibility for treatment and be used to create an individualized care plan, including family-centered goals that drive future treatment sessions.

Step 3: Treatment

Treatment is customized to fit your child’s communication goals and your family’s lifestyle. Typically 45-minute sessions. Therapy often ranges from 1-3x/week.
